Bobby Okereke

Robert Nnanna Okereke is an American professional football linebacker who currently plays for the Carolina Panthers, having been born in 1996 to Nigerian immigrant parents and achieving the rank of Eagle Scout as a teenager. He starred at Stanford University, earning Pac-12 Honorable Mention honors in 2017 and 2018 before being drafted in the third round (89th overall) by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2019 NFL draft. During his four seasons with the Colts, he blossomed into a durable starter, recording a career-high 151 tackles in 2022 and showcasing his playmaking ability with forced fumbles and interceptions. He then signed a four-year deal with the New York Giants in 2023, where he played every single snap in the 2023 season and was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week in 2025 for a two-turnover performance against the Cowboys. After being released by the Giants in early 2026, he signed with the Panthers later that year. However, his career has been shadowed by a 2015 sexual assault investigation at Stanford, where a university panel found he committed assault but lacked the 4-1 vote threshold to pursue punitive action—allegations he has consistently denied.
