Usman Nurmagomedov (born April 17, 1998, in Dagestan, Russia) is a prominent mixed martial artist and the younger brother of UFC fighter Umar Nurmagomedov, as well as a cousin of former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. He rose to fame in Bellator MMA, where he captured the Lightweight World Championship in November 2022 by defeating Patricky Pitbull, and later defended it in the 2023 Lightweight Grand Prix by submitting former UFC champion Benson Henderson with a rear-naked choke. After Bellator's closure, he became the inaugural PFL Lightweight Champion and is currently ranked #1 in the PFL men's pound-for-pound standings as a free agent. Known for his dominant striking and grappling, he began his professional career in 2017 and won his first 11 fights—mostly by knockout or submission—while training under the legendary coach Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.
