Sling TV

Sling TV is an American streaming television service owned by EchoStar, designed to offer a cheaper, flexible alternative to traditional cable for "cord cutters." Unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show on January 5, 2015, and officially launched on February 9, 2015, it was led by CEO Roger Lynch and President Erik Carlson, evolving from the earlier DishWorld service. The service strategically secured over-the-top rights from major networks like Disney and A&E, aiming to attract the 18–35 demographic with its "Take Back TV" slogan and a key deal to include ESPN. Despite its innovative approach, Sling TV has seen a decline in subscribers, dropping from 2.12 million in November 2023 to 1.89 million by May 2025. Its history traces back to Dish Network's 2012 trial run with DishWorld, and it was positioned as a way to avoid the high costs of traditional $60–$70 bundles.
