Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves are upcoming role-playing games developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company for the Nintendo Switch 2. Announced on 27 February 2026—the franchise's 30th anniversary—they mark the first installments of the tenth generation and are slated for a 2027 release. Set in a tropical archipelago inspired by Southeast Asia, the games will feature numerous islands and accessible underwater areas for exploration. The reveal introduced the starter Pokémon: the Grass-type Browt, the Fire-type Pombon, and the Water-type Gecqua, alongside a leak suggesting over 300 new Pokémon will be added. Interestingly, the titles were first leaked in a major 2024 data breach at Game Freak before their official unveiling during a Pokémon Presents presentation.
