Kai Asakura (born 31 October 1993) is a Japanese mixed martial artist who currently competes in the bantamweight division of the UFC, having previously reigned as the Rizin Bantamweight Champion. Growing up, he trained in karate, sumo, and volleyball, but his toughness was forged through frequent street fights with his brother, Mikuru Asakura, which led their mother to enroll them in boxing classes. Turning professional in 2012, he fought for promotions like DEEP, Road FC, and Rings, winning titles and suffering his first career loss to Je Hoon Moon before joining Rizin. In Rizin, he made his debut in December 2017 and earned notable victories, including a split decision over Manel Kape and a spectacular knockout of then-champion Kyoji Horiguchi in a non-title bout. After capturing the Rizin bantamweight title, he transitioned to the UFC, where he continues to compete, bringing his aggressive, knockout-heavy style to the global stage.
