Elaine "Lainey" Lui (born September 26, 1973) is a prominent Canadian television personality and reporter, best known as the founder of the popular celebrity gossip site LaineyGossip.com and as a co-host on CTV's daily talk show The Social (premiering in 2013) and anchor on etalk. Born in Toronto to Hong Kong immigrants, she started her blog from a simple email to friends, which grew so large that she left her nonprofit job at Covenant House in 2006 to pursue it full-time. Over her career, she has covered major events like the Oscars, Cannes, and TIFF, and even made an acting debut on Murdoch Mysteries. In her personal life, she is married to Jacek Szenowicz, and the couple has chosen not to have children.
