The YES Network is a regional sports network based in New York City, owned by a consortium that includes Yankee Global Enterprises, Main Street Sports Group, Amazon, Blackstone, RedBird Capital, and Mubadala Investment Company (as of April 2026). It primarily broadcasts games and programming for the New York Yankees (MLB) and the Brooklyn Nets (NBA), with its offices in Midtown Manhattan and production studios in Stamford, Connecticut. The network traces its origins to a 1999 business merger between the Yankees and the Nets, creating YankeeNets, which aimed to gain better leverage over their broadcast rights. This led to a bitter dispute with Cablevision, which had held monopoly-like control over local sports broadcasts, but a 2001 settlement allowed the teams to take their rights in-house. The channel launched on March 19, 2002, with its first game being an exhibition match between the Yankees and the Cincinnati Reds. Although initially refused by Cablevision at launch, the network is now widely available on major providers like DirecTV, Verizon Fios, and Cox.
