Eliézer Alfonzo is a Venezuelan professional baseball catcher who made his MLB debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 5, 2026, against the San Diego Padres. He spent nearly a decade in the Detroit Tigers organization after signing as an international free agent in 2016, climbing through the minors with solid hitting (including a .287 average in 2021) before injuries slowed his progress. Alfonzo joined the Dodgers on a minor league contract in November 2025, earned a call-up on July 4, 2026, and recorded his first major league hit against the New York Yankees on July 19. The son of former MLB player Eliézer Alfonzo and brother of Yankees prospect Omar Alfonzo, he carries on a strong baseball lineage.
