A standout moment in his career was styling ten celebrities for the 2021 Met Gala, and he later won the inaugural stylist award at the 2022 CFDA Awards. In March 2023, Roach announced his retirement from styling, citing burnout, industry "false narratives," and the tragic death of his three-year-old nephew, though he continued working exclusively with Zendaya during his hiatus.
