Awarapan 2

Awarapan 2 is a 2026 Indian Hindi-language action thriller directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt, serving as a direct sequel to the 2007 film Awarapan and starring Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani, and Shabana Azmi. The film continues the story of Hashmi's character Shivam Pandit, with Patani playing Zara and Azmi revealed as the antagonist, while original director Mohit Suri was notably not approached for the sequel. Principal photography ran from September 2025 to June 2026 across Bangkok, Rajasthan, Malaysia, and Mumbai, during which Hashmi suffered an abdominal injury performing an action sequence and required surgery. Released theatrically on 14 August 2026 to coincide with Indian Independence Day, the film was postponed from an initial April date and clashed with Batwara 1947 at the box office. It received a U/A 16+ certificate from the CBFC with a 140-minute runtime, and its soundtrack, featuring composers like Mithoon and Amaal Mallik, was released on 11 August 2026. Early critical response praised Hashmi's performance, with The Sunday Guardian's Bhumi Vashisht commending his portrayal of Shivam Pandit.
