On November 1, 2025, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 5–4 in 11 innings to win Game 7 of the World Series, making them the first team since the 1998–2000 Yankees to win consecutive titles. The game was historic, featuring a game-tying home run by Miguel Rojas in the top of the ninth—the first such late-game equalizer in a Game 7—and a series-winning homer by Will Smith in the 11th, the first go-ahead home run ever hit in extra innings of a Game 7. Despite the Blue Jays' home-field advantage, the Dodgers' defense, including a force out by Rojas and a spectacular catch by Andy Pages in the bottom of the ninth, kept the game alive. The series itself was a wild ride, with Toronto's nine-run inning in Game 1, an 18-inning Dodgers win in Game 3, and a rookie strikeout record by Trey Yesavage, before the Dodgers forced the decisive game. With Max Scherzer starting for Toronto against Shohei Ohtani, the game became only the fifth Game 7 to go to extra innings and just the second ever won by the visiting team, cementing the Dodgers' status as a modern dynasty with their third championship in six seasons.
