PBS News Hour is a nightly American news program that has aired on over 350 PBS stations since its debut on October 20, 1975, and is currently anchored on weekdays by Amna Nawaz and Geoff Bennett. Produced by WETA-TV in Arlington, Virginia, the show is a collaboration with several other PBS stations, including WNET in New York, and is renowned for its in-depth, single-issue coverage of important events. The program evolved from The Robert MacNeil Report (1975) to The MacNeil/Lehrer Report (1976), and then to The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour in 1983 when it expanded to a full hour, before adopting its current PBS NewsHour title in 2009. It was famously co-anchored by legendary journalists Robert MacNeil and Jim Lehrer for decades, and in 2014, the production company was donated to WETA, transforming it into a nonprofit subsidiary.
