Martha Stewart (born August 3, 1941) is a legendary American businesswoman and television personality who built a home-and-hospitality empire as the founder of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. She achieved fame through bestselling books, the Martha Stewart Living magazine, and hit TV shows like Martha Stewart Living (1993–2004) and The Martha Stewart Show (2005–2012). After serving five months in federal prison in 2005 for felony charges related to the ImClone stock trading case, she staged a remarkable comeback, returning her company to profitability by 2006 and eventually reclaiming the chairwoman role in 2012. Her company changed hands over the years, being acquired by Sequential Brands in 2015 and later sold to Marquee Brands for $175 million in 2019. At the age of 81 in 2023, she made history as the oldest woman ever to grace the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and in 2024, she was the subject of the Netflix documentary Martha, directed by R. J. Cutler.
