Edwin Díaz (born March 22, 1994) is a Puerto Rican professional baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, having previously starred for the Seattle Mariners and New York Mets. Drafted by the Mariners in 2012, he debuted in 2016 and quickly made history by setting a franchise record with 11 consecutive strikeouts, surpassing Hall of Famer Randy Johnson's previous mark. His standout 2018 season saw him lead MLB with 57 saves, earning his first All-Star selection and the AL Reliever of the Year Award. After a trade to the Mets, he added two more All-Star selections, two NL Reliever of the Year Awards, and two All-MLB Team honors in 2022 and 2025. Growing up in Naguabo, Puerto Rico, he played alongside Carlos Correa and José Berríos before reluctantly becoming a pitcher at his father's insistence. Currently leading the league in Reliever of the Month honors, Díaz has cemented his reputation as one of baseball's most dominant closers.
