Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense, commonly known as Grêmio, is a major Brazilian football club from Porto Alegre, founded in 1903 by Cândido Dias da Silva and 32 others, mostly from the city's German immigrant community. The club plays at the modern Arena do Grêmio (since 2013) and is famous for its blue, black, and white striped shirts. Grêmio boasts an impressive trophy collection, including the 1983 Intercontinental Cup, three Copa Libertadores titles, two Brazilian Série A championships, and five Copa do Brasil trophies. In 2017, the club was ranked first in Brazil by the CBF and valued at $295.5 million by Forbes, making it one of the most valuable in the Americas. Grêmio shares a fierce, historic rivalry with Internacional—known as the "Grenal"—which began with a memorable 10-0 victory for Grêmio in 1909.
