Christa Gail Pike (born March 10, 1976) is a Tennessee death row inmate convicted for the brutal 1995 murder of her 19-year-old Job Corps classmate, Colleen Slemmer, in Knoxville. At just 20 years old in 1996, she became one of the youngest women in the U.S. to receive the death penalty in the post-Furman era, and she is currently scheduled for execution on September 30, 2026, which would make her the first woman executed in Tennessee in over two centuries. Pike's troubled background included severe parental neglect, multiple sexual assaults (including rapes as a child and at age 17), and a suicide attempt at age 12 following her grandmother's death, leading to frequent school changes and a stint in a juvenile facility. She joined the Job Corps in Knoxville in late 1994, where she met her abusive boyfriend Tadaryl Shipp, who introduced her to witchcraft and satanism; in 1995, she and two friends lured Slemmer into the woods, where she was beaten, tortured, and killed. Despite her traumatic history, the court sentenced her to death, and her case remains notable for its extreme violence and the young age of the perpetrator.
