Ray McKinnon (born November 15, 1957) is an American actor, writer, director, and producer who has made a significant impact on both television and film. His diverse acting career includes notable roles in Apollo 13 (1995), O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), the HBO series Deadwood (2004), and the FX shows Sons of Anarchy (2011) and its spin-off Mayans M.C. (2018–2023). McKinnon also created Rectify (2013–2016), the first original series for Sundance TV, which earned a prestigious Peabody Award. He co-founded the production company Ginny Mule Pictures with his wife Lisa Blount and actor Walton Goggins, which produced The Accountant, a short film that won the 2001 Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film. In 2004, he wrote, directed, and starred in the feature Chrystal, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and received a nomination for the Grand Jury Prize. Born in Adel, Georgia, and a 1981 graduate of Valdosta State University, McKinnon continues to reside in Little Rock, Arkansas.
