Charles D'Donte Batch (born December 5, 1974) is a former NFL quarterback who played 15 seasons, most notably as a backup for his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers, where he earned two Super Bowl rings (Super Bowl XL and XLIII). After a record-setting college career at Eastern Michigan University—where he amassed 7,592 passing yards and 53 touchdowns—he was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 1998 NFL Draft, serving as their starter from 1998 to 2001 before being released for salary cap reasons. During his time in Detroit, he was known for a "hybrid" rushing role to compensate for Barry Sanders' retirement, but he struggled with injuries and was eventually replaced by the draft bust Joey Harrington—whom Batch ironically outlasted in the NFL. He then joined the Steelers in 2002, spending over a decade as a reliable backup and winning two championships. Today, Batch works as a pre-game analyst for KDKA-TV, co-hosts the Steeler Post-Game Show on WDVE Radio, and provides color commentary for high school sports on Champs Sports Network.
