Luis Victoriano García (born May 16, 2000) is a Dominican-American infielder who currently plays for the New York Yankees, though he made his MLB debut in 2020 with the Washington Nationals. Born in New York City but raised in the Dominican Republic from age 3, he signed with the Nationals as a 16-year-old for a $1.3 million bonus in 2016, following in the footsteps of his father, a former Detroit Tigers shortstop. Rising quickly through the minors, he became the youngest player ever selected for the 2018 All-Star Futures Game and made history in 2020 as the first MLB player born in the 2000s to hit a home run. After taking over as the Nationals' everyday second baseman in 2021, he delivered a remarkable 6-for-6 performance against the Kansas City Royals in 2023, joining franchise legends Anthony Rendon and Rondell White. He officially changed his playing name to García Jr. for the 2024 season, and has since continued his career with the Yankees.
