Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a 2021 third-person co-op shooter developed by Cold Iron Studio, set in 2202 (23 years after the film Alien 3). Players control Colonial Marines responding to a distress call, fighting Xenomorphs across four campaigns with seven character classes and up to three-player online co-op, notably avoiding microtransactions and drawing comparisons to Left 4 Dead. The story follows a fireteam uncovering Weyland-Yutani's secret experiments with a mutagenic "Pathogen" and Engineer ruins on LV-895, culminating in a battle against a rogue AI to prevent a Pathogen-laden starship from reaching Earth. Developed by a team of former Cryptic Studios employees (acquired by FoxNext in 2019), the game's success has led to a sequel, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, scheduled for release on August 25, 2026.
