Elizabeth "Liz" Hurley (born 10 June 1965) is an English actress and model best known for her roles as Vanessa Kensington in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997) and the Devil in Bedazzled (2000). She shot to global fame in 1994 when she accompanied Hugh Grant to a film premiere wearing a daring black Versace dress held together with gold safety pins. A longtime face of Estée Lauder since 1995, she has also built a successful television career starring in The Royals (2015–2018), Gossip Girl (2011), and Runaways (2019). Growing up in Basingstoke, she embraced punk fashion in her teens before studying dance and theatre, and she later faced controversy in 2000 when she was fined $100,000 for breaking an acting strike to film an Estée Lauder ad. In 2024, she acted in and produced Strictly Confidential, a film written and directed by her son Damian, rounding out a career that also includes owning her own beachwear line.
