Liam John Hicks (born June 2, 1999) is a Canadian professional baseball catcher who currently plays for the Tampa Bay Rays in Major League Baseball (MLB). After playing college ball at Arkansas State University, he was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the ninth round of the 2021 MLB draft, marking the start of his professional career. Following stints in the Rangers' minor-league system, he was traded to the Detroit Tigers in July 2024, only to be selected by the Miami Marlins in the Rule 5 draft that December—a move that landed him a spot on their Opening Day roster. Hicks made his MLB debut on March 28, 2025, and later hit his first career home run off fellow Canadian Jordan Romano on April 19, finishing his rookie season with a .247 average, six home runs, and 45 RBIs. In August 2026, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for three prospects, continuing his rapid rise through the big leagues.
