Jeremy Allen Moss (born June 23, 1986) is a Democratic politician from Southfield, Michigan, who currently serves in the Michigan Senate and holds the distinction of being the first openly gay person elected to that body, as well as its first president pro tempore. After graduating from Michigan State University, he launched his political career at age 25, winning a seat on the Southfield City Council in 2011 as the youngest member in its history. He went on to serve in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2014 to 2018, where he became the second openly gay member of the state legislature and rose to the role of House Democratic Whip. In 2018, he was elected to the Michigan Senate, and following the 2022 redistricting, he won re-election in the new 7th District while helping his caucus secure its first majority in 40 years. A lifelong Southfield resident who is Jewish and openly gay, Moss is currently the Democratic nominee for Michigan's 11th congressional district.
