DeWanna Bonner, born on August 21, 1987, in Fairfield, Alabama, is an American-Macedonian professional basketball player currently with the Phoenix Mercury, having built a stellar career starting at Auburn University. At Auburn, she earned SEC Player of the Year honors in 2009, broke the school's career scoring record with 2,162 points, and became one of only three Tigers to amass over 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Drafted fifth overall by the Mercury in 2009, she won WNBA championships in her rookie season and again in 2014, and after sitting out 2017 due to pregnancy, she returned to earn an All-Star selection in 2018. After a trade to the Connecticut Sun in 2020, she signed with the Indiana Fever in 2025, where she became the WNBA's third all-time leading scorer in her debut. However, her tenure with the Fever was brief, as she was waived in June 2025 after being listed as unavailable for personal reasons, with reports indicating she preferred to play for teams like the Phoenix Mercury.
