Jed York (born March 9, 1980) is an American businessman who serves as the principal owner and CEO of the NFL's San Francisco 49ers, and also co-owns Premier League club Leeds United and Scottish Premiership club Rangers. A member of the prominent DeBartolo-York family, he joined the 49ers as a strategic planner after a brief stint as a financial analyst, becoming CEO in December 2008 and acquiring enough shares to become principal owner in 2024. Under his leadership, the team experienced a resurgence with coach Jim Harbaugh, going 13-3 in 2011, reaching the NFC Championship in 2011 and 2013, and losing Super Bowl XLVII in 2012 to the Baltimore Ravens. York has also made headlines for his bold public statements, such as a 2010 tweet predicting a playoff run despite an 0-5 start (which nearly came true) and a 2014 apology tweet after a poor Thanksgiving performance. The 2014 season ended 8-8 amid front-office tension with Harbaugh, who left the team, marking the end of the 49ers' playoff streak until 2019.
