The Carolina Panthers are a professional American football team based in Charlotte, North Carolina, competing in the NFL's NFC South division. Established in 1993 by founding owner Jerry Richardson, the Panthers began play in 1995, famously setting the all-time best record for an NFL expansion team with a 7–9 finish.

Initially playing some home games in Clemson, South Carolina, they moved into Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte in 1996 and have since made two Super Bowl appearances, losing to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVIII (2003 season) and the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50 (2015 season). The team has also secured three NFC Championship titles and six NFC South titles since 2002. David Tepper purchased the franchise from Richardson in 2018, and the club is now valued at an estimated $4.1 billion.
