Cody Bellinger, born in 1995 and son of former MLB player Clay Bellinger, was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2013 and made his MLB debut with them in 2017. He quickly became a standout, earning the National League (NL) Rookie of the Year award in 2017, and an exceptional 2019 season saw him claim the NL MVP, Silver Slugger, and Gold Glove Awards. Bellinger further cemented his legacy by winning his first World Series title with the Dodgers in 2020.
However, a period of injury-plagued seasons led to a decline in performance from 2021-2022. He remarkably revitalized his career with the Chicago Cubs, earning the NL Comeback Player of the Year award in his first season with them. After two impactful seasons with the Cubs, Bellinger was traded to the New York Yankees in 2024 and is currently a free agent.
