Mile High Stadium (originally Bears Stadium until 1968) was a multi-purpose venue in Denver, Colorado, from 1948 to 2002, built by Bob Howsam on a former landfill for the minor-league Denver Bears. It became legendary as the home of the Denver Broncos from 1960 to 2000, and later hosted the Colorado Rockies in 1993–1994, setting MLB attendance records while Coors Field was under construction. The stadium also housed the Denver Gold (USFL) and several soccer teams, with the Colorado Rapids being the final franchise to play there in 2001. Originally a baseball park, it was expanded multiple times to accommodate football and major league aspirations, ultimately becoming more famous as a pro-football venue. After the Rapids' 2001 season, the stadium was closed and demolished in 2002.
