Raf Simons is a highly influential Belgian fashion designer, born in 1968, who initially trained in industrial and furniture design. Inspired by a pivotal Martin Margiela fashion show in 1991, he became a self-trained menswear designer and launched his eponymous label in 1995. His brand quickly gained recognition for a distinctive aesthetic deeply rooted in youth subcultures, music, and a blend of punk and New Wave influences.

Simons then went on to hold prominent creative director positions at several major fashion houses, including Jil Sander (2005–2012), Christian Dior (2012–2015), and Calvin Klein (2016–2018), where his work was often met with critical acclaim. As of April 2020, he serves as co-creative director of Prada, continuing to shape contemporary fashion in partnership with Miuccia Prada.
