Christian Yelich
Christian Yelich (born December 5, 1991, in Thousand Oaks, California) is an American professional baseball designated hitter for the Milwaukee Brewers, having begun his MLB career with the Miami Marlins, who drafted him in the first round of the 2010 MLB draft. After being traded to the Brewers in the 2017–18 offseason, he claimed the 2018 National League Most Valuable Player Award and has become a three-time All-Star, three-time Silver Slugger, and two-time NL batting champion. Yelich is famously one of only five players in MLB history to hit for the cycle three times—twice in 2018 and once in 2022—and the only one to do it against the same team (the Cincinnati Reds). Defensively, he earned a Gold Glove in 2014, setting a franchise record for left-field fielding percentage and becoming the Marlins' youngest player ever to win the honor. Internationally, he helped Team USA capture its first gold medal in the 2017 World Baseball Classic and was named to the All-World Classic Team. He also signed a seven-year, $49.57 million extension in 2015, solidifying his status as a franchise cornerstone after a standout amateur career at Westlake High School.
