Chicago Sky

The Chicago Sky are a professional women's basketball team based in Chicago, competing in the Eastern Conference of the WNBA since their founding in 2006. Notably, they are one of the few teams in the league without an NBA affiliation, and they are currently owned by Michael J. Alter and Nadia Rawlinson. The team debuted its name and blue-and-yellow colors at a star-studded event in September 2005, but their early seasons were a struggle, including a 5–29 inaugural record. They gradually built momentum through key draft picks like Candice Dupree (2006) and Sylvia Fowles (2008), reaching their first WNBA Finals in 2014. A second period of excellence from 2019 to 2022 culminated in their first-ever WNBA championship in 2021. Today, the Sky are a powerhouse in the Eastern Conference, playing their home games in the Chicago area while sharing the market with the NBA's Chicago Bulls.
