Samuel Duke Howell (born September 16, 2000) is an American professional football quarterback who currently plays for the Dallas Cowboys, joining them in the 2026 offseason after a remarkable and rapid series of trades. At the University of North Carolina, he set school records for career passing yards (10,283) and touchdown passes (92), and as a freshman he broke the FBS record with 38 touchdown passes, earning ACC Rookie of the Year honors. He was selected by the Washington Commanders in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL draft, and in 2023 he threw for over 3,900 yards while leading the league in pass attempts, interceptions, and sacks.
