NBA 2K is a premier basketball simulation video game series developed by Visual Concepts and released annually since 1999, originally published by Sega before 2K took over with NBA 2K6 in 2005. The franchise has grown to over 25 main installments across 18 platforms, featuring deep gameplay modes like the RPG-style MyCareer, franchise management in MyGM/MyLeague, and the competitive card-collecting MyTeam mode. It has expanded beyond the NBA to include historic teams, EuroLeague squads, and since NBA 2K20, WNBA teams, with a dedicated career mode called The W added in 2K21. The series also launched an official eSports league, the NBA 2K League, in 2018, and a major MyTeam tournament in NBA 2K19 offered a $250,000 prize.
