Abigail Anne Davis Spanberger, born August 7, 1979, is the governor-elect of Virginia, set to make history as the state's first female governor. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously served as the U.S. Representative for Virginia's 7th congressional district from 2019 to 2025.

Spanberger's diverse career includes a significant tenure as an operations officer for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) from 2006 to 2014, where she gathered intelligence on nuclear proliferation and terrorism. Prior to her time in Congress, she also worked as a postal inspector and substitute teacher. In 2018, she famously won a highly contested "bellwether" district, flipping it from incumbent Republican Dave Brat in a race seen as a key indicator of national political shifts. With a Bachelor's from the University of Virginia and an MBA, Spanberger brings a rich background to her new leadership role.
