Alex Bregman (born March 30, 1994) is an American professional baseball third baseman currently playing for the Chicago Cubs, after previous stints with the Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox. A standout talent from a young age, he made history as the first high schooler to win the USA Baseball Player of the Year Award in 2010, batted an astonishing .678 as a junior, and starred at LSU before being drafted second overall by Houston in 2015. He debuted in the MLB in 2016, helped Team USA win gold in the 2017 World Baseball Classic, and captured his first World Series title with the Astros that same year. Bregman added a second World Series ring in 2022, earned the 2018 All-Star Game MVP, led the American League in doubles and walks, and won a Silver Slugger Award in 2019—culminating in his first Gold Glove Award in 2024. Notably, he holds multiple all-time postseason records for third basemen, including home runs, RBIs, and runs scored. Off the field, Bregman comes from a prominent Jewish family; his grandfather served as general counsel for the Washington Senators and even helped sign Ted Williams, and his father is the current District Attorney of Bernalillo County, New Mexico.
