Rex Ashley Ryan, born in 1962, is an American former football coach and current analyst, famously following in the footsteps of his father, legendary coach Buddy Ryan, alongside his twin brother Rob. After two decades as an assistant, he joined the Baltimore Ravens in 1999, eventually serving as their defensive coordinator from 2005 to 2008. Ryan gained widespread recognition as the outspoken head coach of the New York Jets from 2009 to 2014, leading them to back-to-back AFC Championship Game appearances in his initial two seasons. Despite his boisterous personality and early success, his Jets tenure concluded with struggling records, and he later served two years as the Buffalo Bills' head coach from 2015 to 2016 before being fired. Today, Rex Ryan continues to be a prominent figure in football as an analyst for ESPN, including on "Sunday NFL Countdown."
