Gilbert Jay Arenas Jr. (born January 6, 1982) is an American former professional basketball player who rose to prominence after being drafted 31st overall by the Golden State Warriors in the 2001 NBA draft following his college career at the University of Arizona. Known for his explosive scoring, Arenas earned the 2002–03 NBA Most Improved Player award, three NBA All-Star selections, and three All-NBA Team honors, acquiring popular nicknames like "Agent Zero" and "Hibachi."
However, his career faced a significant setback when he was suspended for most of the 2009–10 NBA season due to handgun violations. Following this controversial period, Arenas was traded to the Orlando Magic in late 2010. He later became the first NBA player to be waived under the "amnesty clause" after the 2011 NBA lockout, concluding his professional career with the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2011–12 NBA season.
