Rockstar Games

Rockstar Games is an American video game publisher based in New York City, founded in December 1998 by Dan and Sam Houser, Terry Donovan, Gary Foreman, and Jamie King as a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive. The company is best known for its action-adventure franchises, particularly Grand Theft Auto, which it acquired from BMG Interactive, alongside other hits like Red Dead, Max Payne, and Midnight Club. Its most successful title, Grand Theft Auto V (released in 2013), has sold over 220 million copies, making it the second best-selling video game of all time. Over the years, Rockstar has expanded globally, incorporating studios like Rockstar Toronto (1999) and Rockstar Australia (2025), and was honored with the BAFTA Academy Fellowship Award in 2014 for its innovative game worlds. Sam Houser continues to lead the studio as president, cementing its reputation as a dominant force in the gaming industry.
