Leandro Paredes (born 29 June 1994) is an Argentine defensive midfielder who has starred for top European clubs like Roma, Zenit Saint Petersburg, and Paris Saint-Germain before returning to his boyhood club Boca Juniors in 2025. After starting his career at Boca, he moved to Italy, where he played for Chievo and Roma, then secured big-money transfers to Zenit in 2017 and PSG in 2019, later spending a loan spell at Juventus. On the international stage, he debuted for Argentina in 2017 and became a key figure in their recent golden era, winning the 2021 Copa América, the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and the 2024 Copa América. In the 2022 World Cup, he scored crucial penalties in shootouts against the Netherlands and France, though he also made headlines for kicking the ball at the Dutch bench, sparking a brawl.
