Michael Saylor (born February 4, 1965) is an American billionaire entrepreneur best known as the executive chairman and co-founder of Strategy Inc. (formerly MicroStrategy), a business intelligence and cloud services firm. After graduating from MIT on an Air Force ROTC scholarship, he founded the company with his fraternity brother Sanju Bansal, landing a major contract with McDonald's in 1992 and taking the company public in 1998. However, in March 2000, a financial restatement caused MicroStrategy's stock to plummet 62% in a single day, a key event that marked the bursting of the dot-com bubble. Today, Saylor is a prominent Bitcoin advocate, and under his leadership, MicroStrategy has spent billions of dollars to acquire over 800,000 bitcoins. He is also the author of the 2012 book The Mobile Wave and serves as the sole trustee of the Saylor Academy, a free online education platform.
