Ahsoka (also known as Star Wars: Ahsoka) is a Disney+ space fantasy series created by Dave Filoni, serving as a spin-off from The Mandalorian and a continuation of the animated series Star Wars Rebels, set after the events of Return of the Jedi. The show follows former Jedi apprentice Ahsoka Tano (played by Rosario Dawson) and her former apprentice Sabine Wren as they defend the fledgling New Republic and try to stop Grand Admiral Thrawn from returning from another galaxy to unite the remnants of the Galactic Empire. Premiering on August 22, 2023, the first season's eight episodes received high viewership, generally positive reviews, and a Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Award. The season ends with Thrawn returning and Ahsoka and Sabine left stranded, setting up a second season—slated for January 20, 2027—that will involve the mysterious Mortis gods and the fallen Jedi Baylan Skoll. Filoni drew inspiration from Akira Kurosawa's Yojimbo and J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, depicting Ahsoka's journey from "Ahsoka the Gray" to "Ahsoka the White," while using new technology to craft her realistic montrals and lekku.
