Julie Chen Moonves (born January 6, 1970) is an American television personality best known as the host of CBS's reality show Big Brother since its debut in July 2000. Born in Queens, New York to Chinese immigrant parents, she rose through the ranks to co-anchor CBS's The Early Show (2002–2010) and later moderate the daytime talk show The Talk (2010–2018). Her career took a controversial turn in the 1990s when she underwent eyelid surgery after being told her "Asian eyes" would prevent her from anchoring, an event that shaped her famously precise on-air style and earned her the nickname "Chenbot." In 2018, she left The Talk following the sexual assault allegations against her husband, CBS executive Les Moonves, and began signing off on Big Brother as "Julie Chen Moonves" to reflect the change. That same year, she published her first children's book, When I Grow Up, dedicated to her son Charlie.
