5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS), an Australian pop rock band formed in Sydney in 2011, quickly rose from YouTube fame to international stardom after touring with One Direction. Comprising Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood, and Ashton Irwin, they have sold over 10 million albums and garnered more than 7 billion streams worldwide since 2014, establishing themselves as one of Australia's most successful musical acts.
Their self-titled 2014 debut album and its hit single "She Looks So Perfect" topped charts globally, a success followed by their second album, Sounds Good Feels Good, in 2015. With their 2018 album, Youngblood, 5SOS made history as the first Australian act to achieve three consecutive number-one albums on the US Billboard 200, while its title track became one of Australia's highest-selling singles of the decade. They continued their chart dominance with 2020's Calm, becoming only the second Australian band to have their first four studio albums debut at number one on the ARIA charts. The band has consistently seen their singles chart globally and received numerous accolades, including being listed on Billboard's Top Artists of the 2010s, solidifying their status as a major international music force.
