Martín Silva

Martín Silva (born 25 March 1983) is a Uruguayan professional goalkeeper who began his career with Defensor Sporting in 2002 before moving to Paraguayan club Olimpia in 2011, where he famously scored a penalty goal in 2012. He later played for Brazil's Vasco da Gama—making over 200 appearances between 2014 and 2018—before joining Libertad in Paraguay in 2018. Internationally, Silva made his Uruguay debut in 2009 and was part of the squad that won the 2011 Copa América, while also featuring in the 2010 and 2014 World Cups and the 2013 Confederations Cup (including the 8–0 win over Tahiti). He was additionally named in Uruguay's squads for the 2018 World Cup and 2019 Copa América, though he did not play in either tournament. Individually, he was honored as the South American Goalkeeper of the Year in 2013 and has won domestic league titles with Defensor, Olimpia, and Vasco da Gama.
