S.L. Benfica B

Benfica B is the reserve team of Portuguese club S.L. Benfica, based in Seixal, and currently competes in Liga Portugal 2. Founded in 1999, dissolved in 2006, and restarted in 2012, the side was one of six B teams introduced to the second division that year to give youth players competitive experience. As a reserve squad, Benfica B cannot earn promotion to the Primeira Liga or enter domestic cup competitions, with league rules mandating a core of academy players aged 15–21. The team initially played at Estádio da Luz before moving permanently to the Benfica Campus training ground in 2013–14. Notable moments include an invitation to the 2014 Premier League International Cup and a 2015 friendly at Broadhurst Park marking F.C. United of Manchester's stadium opening. Since 2018–19, the club also fields an under-23 side in the Liga Revelação to further bridge youth development.
