Svika Pick

Svika Pick (1949–2022) was a Polish-born Israeli pop icon, often called the "Israeli King of Pop" and "Maestro." He first gained national fame in the early 1970s as a lead in the Hebrew version of Hair and was named Israel's male singer of the year from 1977 to 1980. His greatest international triumph came when he co-wrote "Diva" with Yoav Ginai, which Dana International performed to win the Eurovision Song Contest 1998. He continued his Eurovision involvement by composing entries for Israel, Ukraine, and Georgia in the 2000s. In his personal life, his daughter Daniella is married to filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, and he suffered a severe stroke in 2018 that required him to relearn Hebrew and walk. Pick passed away in August 2022, leaving behind a rich legacy of pop hits and musicals.
