Dakota Johnson

Dakota Johnson (born October 4, 1989) is an American actress who rose to global fame as Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades film trilogy (2015–2018), which grossed over $1 billion worldwide. The daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, she made her film debut in Crazy in Alabama (1999) and was named Miss Golden Globe in 2006, before landing early roles in The Social Network (2010) and the sitcom Ben and Kate (2012–2013). Beyond her blockbuster work, Johnson has earned critical praise for her performances in The Peanut Butter Falcon (2019), Cha Cha Real Smooth (2022), and Am I Ok? (2022), while also starring in major films like Madame Web (2024) and Materialists (2025). Her accolades include an Independent Spirit Award, along with nominations for a BAFTA and a Critics' Choice Award, and she was featured on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2016. Despite her Hollywood pedigree—her maternal grandmother was actress Tippi Hedren—Johnson has spoken openly about her unconventional childhood, struggles with depression, and her rejection from Juilliard, which ultimately shaped her resilient path to stardom.
