Lily Rabe (born June 29, 1982) is an American actress best known for her numerous and varied roles in the FX anthology horror series American Horror Story (2011–2021) and her acclaimed work on Broadway. The daughter of playwright David Rabe and actress Jill Clayburgh, she grew up in New York and Connecticut, studied dance for ten years, and changed career paths after performing a monologue from Crimes of the Heart—later graduating from Northwestern University in 2004. She made her Broadway debut in the 2005 revival of Steel Magnolias and earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress for her portrayal of Portia in The Merchant of Venice. Beyond the horror anthology, her film credits include Vice (2018), Fractured (2019), and The Tender Bar (2021), while her television work spans The Undoing (2020) and The Underground Railroad (2021). Making her screen debut opposite her mother in Never Again (2001), Rabe has balanced a robust stage career with mainstream screen roles, solidifying her status as a dynamic and versatile performer.
