The Superlative Seven is a classic episode of the British spy-fi series The Avengers, first airing in the ITV network's Southern and Tyne Tees regions on 5 April 1967. Written by Brian Clemens and directed by Sidney Hayers, it stars Patrick Macnee as John Steed and Diana Rigg as Mrs. Peel, alongside guest stars including Donald Sutherland and Brian Blessed. The plot sees Steed lured to a remote-controlled plane under the guise of a fancy-dress party, only for him and six other combat experts to be taken to an island and hunted by a mysterious killer. The episode's famous twist reveals that the assassin "Jason" is actually a set of identical twins, forcing Mrs. Peel to rescue the incapacitated Steed and engage in a duel.
