The American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA), founded in 1902 and based in Washington, D.C., is a leading trade association representing the U.S. transportation construction industry. With over 8,000 members from both public and private sectors, ARTBA advocates for significant investment in infrastructure, an industry that generates more than $580 billion in annual economic activity and supports over 4 million American jobs.
Its primary mission is to champion policies that ensure safe and efficient travel, including robust legal advocacy that has successfully defended nearly $52 billion in challenged U.S. transportation projects. ARTBA also provides essential economic research, forms strategic industry coalitions, and operates the ARTBA Transportation Development Foundation (ARTBA-TDF). This Foundation, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2015, oversees important initiatives like the Transportation Hall of Fame (established in 2010) and the National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse, offering the world's largest online library on work zone safety.
